In Avadi, Chennai, a 27-year-old police constable, identified as Vignesh from Virudhunagar, allegedly took his own life at his residence on Friday. According to authorities from the Thirumullaivoyal police, Vignesh, who worked as a computer operator at the Manali Assistant Commissioner’s office, was found dead in his home.

Upon learning of the incident, the police rushed Vignesh to the government hospital in Thirumullaivoyal for treatment of self-inflicted injuries. The police are now conducting a thorough investigation into the murder and are exploring all possible angles.

As reported by The New Indian Express, reports indicate that Vignesh had recently incurred significant losses, estimated at around Rs.30,000, in online rummy. He resided in the Avadi police quarters and was on the brink of entering a new chapter in his life, as he was soon to be married.

Vignesh, a recipient of a bravery award and a former computer operator at the Manali police headquarters, had been romantically involved with a 25-year-old female constable who was also stationed there. The dispute between the two lovers, which was known to their colleagues, was supposed to culminate in marriage in May with the consent of their families.

The sequence of events leading to the discovery began when Vignesh returned home from work and consumed alcohol. Concerns arose when a neighbor attempted to contact him and received no response. Subsequently, the authorities were alerted, prompting them to intervene. Upon entering Vignesh’s residence, they discovered his lifeless body. His remains were transferred to a government hospital for further investigation through post mortem procedures.

After this distressing incident, a case has been registered, and an inquiry is currently underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding Vignesh’s untimely demise. As authorities continue their investigation, it emphasizes the need for measures to address issues of addiction and financial strain within the gaming community
