Farhat Ali Khan, National President of Muslim Federation, in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, recently protested against online rummy and the celebrities promoting the game by burning down their posters. The poster contained images of Ajay Devgn, Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan along with popular online games like Junglee Rummy, Teen Patti and Ludo.

Khan said that all these celebrities are encouraging youth to play these online games claiming that they will win crores of rupees, but it only turns into an addiction in the long run where people spend much more than they have and ruin their lives.

As reported by India News UP, Khan further said that people can see these celebrities and influencers regularly in promotion for these online games but never in advertisements for yoga or any other form of healthy lifestyle. This has pushed many youths towards self-destruction, with numerous reports of people committing suicide after losing money on these online games.

Request PM to take action against promoting gambling to the youth, says Khan

Khan requested the Prime Minister to take action against people promoting gambling to the youth. Protest like these are happening on a daily basis, as recently in Maharashtra, a young man sent a letter to Ajay Devgn asking him how much money he has won playing Junglee Rummy.

The letter said that many young people in the state who consider him as their idol are playing these online games and losing money. While he was not promoting any form of illegal gaming, it seems several people still consider skill games and chance games similar.

Many states are also in talks to ban online gaming. Tamil Nadu recently passed a bill to ban any form of online gaming that involved money, be it game of chance or game of skill. Many online firms have filed a petition against the decision in the Madras HC, which is currently under hearing.
