PUBG Mobile made a new record as it became the battle royale game with the highest viewership in 2022 beating other games like Free Fire and Fortnite.

According to a report by Esports Chart, PUBG mobile content received over 112 million hours of viewing, making it the only game in the category to surpass 100 million viewing hours in a calendar year.

The top five games with most viewership in 2022 were –

1. PUBG Mobile
2. Apex Legends
3. Free Fire
4. Fortnite
5. PUBG Battlegrounds

With over 216 million hours of viewing, the game also won in the same category the previous year but this time around, it had a sharp decline of roughly 100 million.

The 31st Southeast Asian Games: PUBG Mobile, which was held from May 19 to May 22, 2022, saw a peak audience of 903K viewers. The game is also set to have PMGC GRAND FINALS from January 6-8, 2023 after the conclusion of PMGC Invitational in Riyadh with a prize pool of $3 million.

PUBG mobile is also one of the highest grossing mobile games worldwide and has created more than $9 billion in four years. It also received Esports Mobile Game of the Year at the Esports Awards 2022.

The company behind the game, Tencent, has been pushing the game globally with many events both in-game and live. Many tournaments for the games are organized on a regular basis with millions of dollars on offer as prize money.

Sadly, due to the ban on BGMI, the Indian teams were not able to take part in any international tournaments this year. BGMI or Battlegrounds Mobile India is the Indian version of PUBG developed by Krafton which was banned under section 69A of the I.T. Act 2000.

Recent rumours originating from a livestream hosted by a well-known pro player in India suggested that BGMI might be back on Google Play Store by January 15. Although the dates are claimed as tentative fans are very hopeful of seeing the game come back officially.
