Developer of Raiders SIX, Starlight Gaming, is planning to make investments of $10 million for marketing and operations in India. With the release of their games, the Taiwan-based developer plans to retain its presence in Indian gaming industry.

Raider SIX was originally developed in Taiwan, and while it is based on a completely free-to-play model, users can buy cosmetics through microtransactions. Further collaborations for the games are also expected in future, with constant developments and optimizations.

“As we move forward to establish a formidable business entity in India, we will continue to invest as and when the need arises,” Softstar Entertainment GM Yautian Chen said to The Economic Times.

Chen further stated that after the release of their first Battle Royale game, the studio is planning to establish Starlight Gaming India as an independent development and publishing company. This will also create competition among game developers, and we might see a variety of game in the future.

The Indian gaming sector is expected to grow at a CAGR of 20% to reach Rs 23,100 crore in revenue, as per a report from FICCI-EY. As such, the market is gaining traction from many companies looking to expand into the sector.

Hoping to break even in 10–11 months, says Laveesh Pandey

Starlight Gaming is also among one of the firms looking to solidify a spot in the market early on. The company’s chief operating officer for India, Laveesh Pandey said that the company is planning to spend Rs 50 crore on marketing over nine months.

Pandey said, “Our app went live on July 4, and we had over 1 million downloads until July 11. We are hoping to break even in 10–11 months with the kind of response that we are getting. The original plan was to break even in 15 months.”

With the huge round of investment and marketing spends alongside the growing scope of gaming industry, Starlight Gaming might establish itself comfortably in the gaming market in India.
