5. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Another masterpiece by FromSoftware, Sekiro is the 2019 Game of the Year that took a different approach to the developer’s game style with more linear game mechanics like God of War while maintaining the difficulty of Souls games behind a good story.

The game is set around Sengoku period, following the story of a Shinobi (Ninja) named Wolf who is working his way to free his master from local warlords. The game introduces several new mechanics like grapple, throwing at the enemies but the most interesting one is the posture.

Players fight with swords, given that the story is set in Sengoku period Japan. Breaking the posture guarantees a fatal blow to the enemy regardless of their health but do remember that the same can happen to players, too. The story is also pretty straightforward with not many side quests, but the game is much harder than it seems.
