More than 10 arrested for illegal gambling across Mohali, Indore

Six people have been arrested as a result of Mohali Police’s bust of an interstate online gambling racket operating out of Handesra in Derabassi. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Darpan Ahluwalia reported that police arrested the suspects and recovered cards, playing boards, “parchis” (slips), and Rs 40,530.

The arrested people are identified as Gaurav Kumar , Sanjay Kumar, Vinay, Satish Kumar and Gurpreet Singh who are all from Ambala Cantt and Sunil Kumar, a resident of Chandigarh.

“We first arrested three accused and on their disclosure statements, three others were nabbed, including kingpin Sunil,” said the ASP.

She also said that the winning number was announced four times a day from four different locations: Faridabad in Haryana, Ghaziabad and Agra in Uttar Pradesh, and Desawar in Bihar.

According to sources, Inspector Shivdeep Singh Brar, the Handesra station house officer (SHO), claimed that when a police group arrived at the Handesra bus stop, they had secret information about some people who were playing openly in a vacant area close to a petrol pump in Shahpur.

“When the police party reached the spot, the accused were calling people to bet. We will be making more arrests in the case,” said Brar. Cases under relevant IPC sections have been registered against the individuals.

Indore, Madhya Pradesh

Indore police crime branch busted a betting ring on Friday and arrested five people. Police seized eleven mobile phones, three books containing entries of transactions totaling lakhs, and Rs 25,100 in cash from the suspects.

After receiving a tip on Thursday, the authorities detained Raja Singh, Jitendra Thakur, Pradeep Pal, Ravi Shukla, and Narendra Jadhav, all hailing from Madhya Pradesh. All of them were operating from a vacant plot in Scheme 114. The arrested individuals have been booked under the appropriate IPC sections.
