Tamil social media today came out in support of the online gaming ban bill and criticising the Governor RN Ravi for delaying the assent to the bill passed by the assembly last October.
The ordinance which preceded the gaming ban bill lapsed last Sunday. Effectively as on date there is no law in state regulating or banning the online gaming for stakes including rummy and poker.
The social media users began trending hashtag #GetOutRavi apparently asking the governor to resign. Few users accused the former IPS officer of working in cohorts with online rummy companies.

Earlier this week, DMK leaders said the governor system must be scrapped.

The BJP, which had criticized the government earlier for delaying the introduction of the legislation to outlaw online gambling, was asked by the ruling DMK if they would now organize a demonstration against the Governor for delaying assent to the law.
RN Ravi is getting money from online Rummy companies. So he’s not signing the GO passed by TN Govt. #GetOutRavi pic.twitter.com/YFRaV83nAP

Tamil Nadu (TN) law minister S. Regupathy met with the governor on December 1 to address concerns brought up by the Raj Bhavan.
Speaking on the issue, Regupathy said, “17 people had killed themselves due to online gambling and games when the ordinance was promulgated. It has risen to 25 now. The Governor had asked for some clarifications. We have given it in writing. We hope he will give assent soon.”
The post of the #Governor is probably the MOST useless thing in democracy. A political appointee trying to sabotage the functioning of an elected regime is a blot on #democracy.#GetOutRavi pic.twitter.com/uuVU6Ivj5K

TRB Raja is an MLA of the ruling DMK.
Non-NDA parties have accused the Governors of running parallel governments in non-BJP ruled states by stalling bills approved by elected legislatures.
