The E-Gaming Federation (EGF), a leading organization representing India’s skill-gaming industry, has recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Maharashtra (Commissionerate of Health Services) aimed at promoting Responsible Gaming within the state. This partnership underscores EGF’s dedication to player protection and fostering responsible gaming practices, with a comprehensive campaign designed to raise awareness and ensure a safer gaming environment for all players involved.

The collaboration between EGF and the Maharashtra Government seeks to implement various initiatives focused on educating and empowering the youth to make informed decisions while engaging in online gaming activities. Maharashtra, known for its progressive stance on technology and innovation, stands out as one of the top three states in India for online gaming, boasting two unicorn startups in Mumbai.

Highlighting the significance of responsible gaming, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasized the importance of social outreach campaigns to equip players with the necessary knowledge and tools to promote responsible behavior while gaming.

EGF has been at the forefront of advocating responsible gameplay, spearheading initiatives and establishing best practices within the industry. This landmark partnership with the Maharashtra government further solidifies EGF’s commitment to promoting responsible gaming standards.

In line with its commitment, EGF launched the ‘Asli Gamer‘ campaign in January 2023, attracting over 200,000 gamers who pledged to uphold responsible gaming practices. The campaign, featuring prominent figures like Indian cricketer Shubman Gill and rapper Naezy, aimed to inspire and motivate players to adopt healthier gaming habits.

As the unified voice of the online skill gaming sector in India, EGF represents the interests of a vast majority of stakeholders, including the top five gaming developers and operators in the country, including a unicorn member. This partnership underscores the collective efforts to foster a responsible gaming culture and ensure the well-being of players in the online gaming community.
